Stage Work

Apart from numerous films, James has also appeared in theatre plays.  Old Wicked Songs, a two-character American play by Jon Marans, in which he plays a young American taking voice lessons from Bob Hoskins' Professor Mashkan, was his first appearance in a West End theatre piece after graduating from the the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, and his performance in this play, which ran at the Gielgud Theater in the West End at the end of 1996, earned him the Jack Tinker Award for Most Promising Newcomer in 1996 (click here for a pic of James with his award).  He also appeared at the Almeida Theatre in The Doctor's Dilemma in 1998. More recently, James appeared in Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight at the Soho Theatre in London, a play by Peter Ackerman, set in Manhattan.
